All representatives of butterfly exhibits or breeding facilities are invited to become a member of IABES.

Regular
Our Regular Membership
$150
Open to all institutions, public or private, that currently display or rear and/or supply living butterflies and other invertebrates, whether seasonally or year-round, or will be opening a display within one calendar year. Individuals and businesses that are engaged professionally as consultants in the industry are also welcome as members. Subject to an invitation of the Board of Directors, so too are those individuals and institutions that are in some way devoted to the advancement of the industry but don’t necessarily fit in the category of exhibits, supplier and consultants.

Our Flagship Membership
$300
Flagship Membership is open to all institutions that qualify as members above. Flagship Membership differs from Regular Membership in the amount of annual dues required, being two times the amount paid by Regular Members. In exchange, Flagship Member institutions will be more prominently featured in Association materials, including the website, brochures, map and other promotional articles.

Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center

Flights of fancy await you in the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, where typically 1,000 or more butterflies flutter freely about in one of North America’s largest tropical butterfly conservatories. The Day Butterfly Center is a living, dynamic, glass-enclosed environment in which a variety of tropical plants nourish the residents and new arrivals emerge from their chrysalides, dry their wings, and begin their very first wing-beats.

Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation

With a focus on Florida butterfly species and native plants, environmental education and local awareness in the Tampa Bay area, Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation was established to support the conservation of butterflies and pollinators and the restoration of their natural wildlife habitats. By working globally with university research partners, providing educational and research opportunities and community outreach programs, and through multi-faceted fundraising efforts, the Foundation aims to elevate public awareness of the importance of butterflies.

Papiliorama Swiss Tropical Gardens

The Papiliorama Foundation aims at raising awareness for the conservation of tropical and indigenous animal and plant species and their habitats. Through its sister foundation ITCF, Papiliorama makes a concrete contribution to the conservation of tropical nature in Belize (Central America). Shipstern Nature Reserve was founded in 1990 by the ITCF and its existence depends on donations made by the visitors of Papiliorama

Butterfly Encounter

Fly on over to this must- see, full immersive live experience. Inside the all-season butterfly habitat and green-house, you will find between 40 and 50 different species of free-flying butterflies from across the world, in addition to a lush tropical habitat. Encounter life science while you observe the late stages of the butterfly’s metamorphic process as they emerge from their chrysalises. Experience the magic as hundreds of butterflies soar overhead, flutter past, and occasionally stop to rest their wings on your shoulder.

"The Future of Butterflying"

The conference hosts Johana Gomez de la Torre (Mariposas de Mindo), Jacob Olander (Heliconius Butterfly Works), and Mathieu de Goulaine (Quinta de Goulaine) welcomed the IABES family to Mindo, Ecuador (ICBES has not been to Ecuador since 2007). The diverse conference program gave participants valuable insight into the breeding and exhibitry operations in Ecuador and allowed enough time for networking and catching up.
